Arsene Wenger admits that he almost signed Messi, Pique, and Fabregas from Barcelona in 2003

Arsene Wenger has now spoken out about the previous failed attempts to sign Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique.

Arsenal had identified the pair while luring Cesc Fabregas to north London, with the Frenchman admitting they contacted the Catalan club to inquire about their availability.

Wenger made the revelation on ‘Against The Odds – Cesc Fabregas: Pass Master.’

The show, which will air on ITV4 this week, promises to reveal behind-the-scenes footage of Fabregas’ illustrious career.

Wenger said:

To be honest when signing Cesc, we also contacted Messi and Pique. Pique in the end decided to go to Man United, Fabregas decided to join us, and Barcelona kept Messi of course! That’s how it happened.
