‘He deserves huge credit’: Alan Shearer praises Arteta for transforming Arsenal, despite rivals claiming they’ve only beaten smaller teams

Alan Shearer praised Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta after the Gunners’ impressive win over Brentford over the weekend.

Arsenal won 3-0 at Brentford Community Stadium. Arsenal currently leads the league with 18 points after winning six of their last seven games.

Despite their strong start to the season, many rivals and pundits believe Arsenal is only ahead because they played smaller teams.

Alan Shearer, on the other hand, believes Arteta should be credited with transforming Arsenal.

He wrote in his column for the BBC after the game:

In just over a year, Arteta has not just built a different team, he has transformed the mood of the whole club. He deserves great credit for that, because he got a lot of criticism after the way they started last season, with three straight defeat.

This time, they have won six out of their first seven league games and go into the international break at the top of the table. They deserve it too.
