Manchester United icon Van Nistelrooy has revealed his rivalry with Thierry Henry actually made him a better player at Man Utd.
During their playing days with Arsenal and Manchester United, the two had a heated and unforgettable rivalry.
Both were incredibly productive up front and were usually vying for the Golden Boot.
In an interview, Van Nistelrooy discusses how his rivalry with Thierry Henry helped him improve at Manchester United.
“Thierry was pushing me. ‘Our rivals at the time were Arsenal, Chelsea and many more and they were pushing us as a club.”
“But also as individuals, all the great players of those teams push you and of course, when you are competing for the golden boot with a striker like Thierry then it pushes you to your limit. And maybe vice versa but you’ll have to ask him.”
