‘I loved him from the moment I laid eyes on him’: Ex Chelsea Joe Cole praises Martinelli revealing he reminds him of Alexis Sanchez and Luis Suarez

Joe Cole, former Liverpool and Chelsea player, has compared Gabriel Martinelli to Luis Suarez and Alexis Sanchez.

This follows the Brazilian’s impressive performance against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Arsenal defeated Tottenham 3-1 at home to win the North London derby.

This season, Martinelli has the most dribbles in the league. In addition, he has three goals in eight EPL games. Arsenal has started the season strongly, leading the league after eight games.

They will look to continue their impressive run when they face Liverpool on October 9. He told BT Sport:

“This is an outstanding footballer. I’ve loved him from the moment I laid eyes on him. He’s so busy, he reminds me of Alexis Sanchez and Luiz Suarez.”

“He’s exceptional with the ball at his feet, he’s got great technique and he affects the game.”

“He works so hard and I thought he was the man of the match in the north London derby [on Saturday]. When he gets the ball, there’s no thought of going back, he just keeps driving forward. He’s so tenacious.”
