Nicholas Pepe agreed to a pay cut in order to complete a loan move to Nice. Despite the fact that he will earn less money at the Ligue 1 club, Pepe believes he made the right decision.

Pepe was signed from Lille in the summer of 2019 for £72 million amid much enthusiasm. However, his time at Arsenal has been a letdown.

Speaking to OGC Nice Tv, he said:

I was playing in the biggest league in the world. You change, you learn a lot, playing against the best teams in the world, you gain experience. My time there hardened me mentally.

As a player and as a person, I have evolved. I played less, but there are some things that made me learn about life, because I had children there.

To get back to enjoying football. I only want to think about football. The financial aspect was a secondary concern.
