Ian Wright, the club’s second highest goal scorer, has praised Edu Gasper and Mikel Arteta for their handling of William Saliba’s career thus far.

The French center back returned to the Emirates as a much more complete player than he had been two years before.
In their first league game against Palace, he and Gabriel Jesus combined for a clean sheet. Saliba thrived during his loan spell with Marseille, prompting some fans to question why the club chose to send him on loan rather than starting him in the EPL.

Ian Wright, on the other hand, believes the club made the right decision in loaning him out. Saliba’s performance in his first league game particularly impressed him.

This guy is someone we’ve always thought would be special. Even when they sent him out on loan there were fans calling for him to come back. He’s a full international now, he looks composed, calm, he’s got great pace.
It’s a decision that was magnificent from Arsenal. It would have been easy to bring him back last year but they gave him the extra season and now he looks like he’s been playing in that position for years.
