Giovanni Padovani, an Italian footballer, murdered his ex-girlfriend with a hammer and a baseball bat.
Before joining current club Sancataldese in Sicily, Podovani had previously played for ten clubs in Italy’s Serie C and Serie D leagues.

Padovani, according to Sancataldese club lawyer Salvatore Pirrello, missed the team’s training last weekend due to personal issues. He then called back on Monday, asking to rejoin the team, but was told to stay away.
As a result, he chose to fly to Bologna, where he allegedly ambushed his ex-girlfriend the next day. According to police, he ambushed his ex in the lobby of her apartment building.
She was talking on the phone with her sister Stefania, who overheard her screams as she was being attacked.
Her sister tearfully told a local TV station:
She got out of her car and started screaming, No Giovanni, no, I beg you, help. I was on the phone. I immediately called the Carabinieri who arrived straight away. I live 30km away. In the end he beat her to death.
Alessandra was still alive when medics arrived, but she died soon after due to severe head injuries.
Padovani has since been arrested and is being held in custody on suspicion of aggravated murder.
