Kamaldeen Sulemana has been nominated for CAF Young Player of the Year award

Sulemana had an impressive first season with French club Rennes, earning him a nomination.

The 20-year-old also made his debut at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year and performed admirably.

However, he faces stiff competition for the award. He is up against Burkina Faso’s Dango Ouattara, Ilaix Moriba (Guinea), El Bilal Toure (Mali), Akinkunmi Amoo (Nigeria), Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal), Hannibal Mejbri (Tunisia), Karim Konate (Ivory Coast), Jesus Owono (Gabon) and James Gomez (Gambia).

The winner will be decided by a voting panel made up of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches and Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved at the group stage of the Interclub competitions.

Sulemana scored five goals and assisted two in 27 league games for Rennes in 2021/22 season.
