Martinez has spoken out about why he chose Manchester United over Arsenal. As quoted by the Metro, the 24-year-old “believes he has joined the best club in the world”.

The Argentine spent three seasons at Ajax under Erik ten Hag before joining United on a €67.3 million (£56.2 million) deal.
Martinez was a serious target for Arsenal, who had made multiple bids for the 24-year-old. However, he stated that Manchester United was his first choice.

When asked why he decided to join Manchester united on MUTV, he said:
Well, Manchester United I think is one of the best clubs in the world.
Every player wants to play here. The opportunity was there, so I took it and now I’m really happy to be here.
