Mikel Arteta decided to play Tomiyasu at left back instead of the more natural left back Kierney in the win. Many would have questioned the lineup, but Arteta was spot on with his tactics.

Tomiyasu is a versatile player who was effective in neutralising Liverpool’s star player Mohamed Salah on the day; forcing klopp to take him off in the second half.
This will not be Arteta’s first time playing a CB as a fullback; he did so with Ben White and had success.
