‘We had Arsenal in ropes’: Southampton boss insists his side could have won in the second half

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw away from home, allowing them to extend their lead at the top of the league to 30 points.

The Gunners were looking to make it ten wins in a row, but Southampton held them to a draw at Saint Mary’s.

Arsenal dominated the first half and should have won the game given the opportunities they had. Southampton came out firing in the second half and equalised through a Stuart Armstrong goal.

Southampton caused Arsenal some problems in the second half, and Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking after the game, believes his team could have won.

He stated on Sky Sports:

“It was amazing to watch the turnaround and mentality of the lads today because we had them in the end in ropes today and we could also win it in the end but okay.”
