‘We were lucky’: Southampton boss happy Arsenal failed to score more goals in the first half and praises his team’s mentality

Following a 1-1 draw at home to league leaders Arsenal, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl praised his team’s mentality.

After the Gunners took the lead in the 11th minute of the first half, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men showed real grit in the second half to draw level through Stuart Armstrong’s strike.

Arsenal could have scored more than two goals in the first half had Gabriel Jesus converted his chances.

Ralph Hasenhuttl on the other hand is a happy man even stating his team could have also won in the end.

“I think we showed in the second half how competitive we are. And I think in the first half we were lucky to be only one down, as long as you are only one down you are still in the game.”
