Arsenal were on course to make it ten wins in a row when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Saint Mary’s. Granit Xhaka gave Arsenal the lead in the 11th minute, but Saint’s equalised after the break.

Despite being played out of position at right back, Ben White has been outstanding this season. However his error against Southampton on Sunday allowed Stuart Armstrong to draw level.

Jamie Redknapp said on Sky Sports:

“We were saying with Saliba and Gabriel as the two centre-backs, Ben White gets drawn across and he doesn’t know whether to run across.

“He comes across and there he’s a centre-back, you’ve got to stay as a centre-back, he sees him too late and by that time it’s a goal.

“Southampton deserved it. Showed great character, under a lot of pressure, I thought they were impressive in the second half and deserved it.”
