‘I’m sure Martinelli would’: Glen Johnson urges Martinelli to join Chelsea as they are a ‘bigger’ club

Glen Johnson has urged Gabriel Martinelli to join the club after his contract with Arsenal expires.

Gabriel Martinelli is currently under contract with the Gunners until 2024, but Arsenal is proposing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.

He’s had a fantastic start to the season, scoring four goals in nine games. On Sunday, his goal and assist against Liverpool gave Arsenal a deserved 3-2 victory.

According to reports, the 21-year-old is demanding wages in the region of £200,000 before renewing his contract, but Arsenal is attempting to negotiate a lower fee.

Glen Johnson, on the other hand, has advised the young Brazilian to leave Arsenal and join the Premier League rivals Chelsea. He stated to Bettingodds.com:

“He’s a very exciting young player, so I can definitely believe that Chelsea are interested. The closer he gets towards the end of his contract, then there’s a chance they could sign him.”

“Chelsea’s a massive football club and despite the fact that they’ve not been competing as much as they should have been in recent seasons, it still remains a massive attraction.”

“If Gabriel gets to the summer with a year to go on his deal, then I’m sure Chelsea would want a move and I’m sure Martinelli would.”
