‘I’ve watched him, and players are afraid to run at him, he’s so fast’: Wright Philips admits to being impressed by Saliba’s performance

Former England international Wright Philips has praised William Saliba.

Saliba returned to Arsenal after a successful loan spell with Marseille. He joined the club for £27 million in 2019 but was loaned out for three years.

Fans were outraged by the decision to loan him out at a time when the Gunners were struggling defensively. However, club legend Ian Wright praised Arsenal’s handling of Saliba, saying the French defender has ‘improved.’

Arsenal have won five consecutive league games thanks to Saliba’s partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes. Wright Philips, his son, shares the same sentiment.

Speaking to Sun Sports, he said:

I think they’ve been fantastic. The new addition with Saliba is phenomenal. Players are scared to run at him as they know how quick he is.
