‘United has spent more money on players than us but we’ll compete them’: Arteta unfazed by Manchester United’s spending spree

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has spoken ahead of his team’s match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard has led his team to five consecutive league victories. Arteta’s team currently leads the league with 15 points and is the only team with a perfect record. They will face a tougher test tomorrow when they travel to the red side of Manchester.

After a shaky start, United have found their form. The Red Devils lost their first two games but are now on a three-game winning streak.

Despite the fact that both managers have spent record sums to bring in new players, Manchester United has spent the most.

Arteta acknowledges United’s spending spree but insists his team is ready to “challenge” them. As quoted by Metro, he said:

“When you look at the squad that they have, the players that they have signed the amount of money they have spent in the market, it is no surprise – they are going to win a lot of football matches.”

“The history of Manchester United tells you this is going to happen. They are a big rival, we know that and we are going to compete with them.”
