‘I’m happy for them to win it’: Ex Man Utd player Robin Van Persie backs Arsenal to win the league ahead of Manchester City

Former Arsenal and Manchester United player Robin Van Persie admits he would be pleased if the Gunners won the Premier League this season.

‘I was in the dressing room and very fascinated; I hope to eventually end up at a club like Arsenal,’ says Schalke player Can Bozdogan

The Dutchman has been impressed with Arsenal’s season thus far and has expressed his support for the club.

Persie spent eight seasons at Arsenal from 2004 to 2012 before joining Manchester United in 2012.

Arsenal currently leads the league with 69 points. They’ve won 22 of their last 28 games and are 8 points ahead of Manchester City.

Speaking to SkySports, he said:

‘If you look at this period of time, this is where every single point really counts. They’ve been proving that.’

‘But the last stretch is always the difficult one, so it’ll be interesting to see. But my personal feeling is that they will go for it – that they will win the league. It’s been a while, so I’m happy for them to win it.’
