Thomas Partey, Black Stars’ deputy captain, is set to return to London after suffering a knee injury while on international duty.

Partey was named to the starting lineup for Ghana’s 3-0 loss to Brazil, but he was forced to withdraw due to an injury sustained during the pre-game warm-up. BabaIddrisu of Real Mallorca came in to replace him.
According to reports, he had a knee flare-up and will return to London for a scan. According to the report, Partey’s injury is minor and he won’t be out long.
A statement read:
‘Thomas Partey has been granted permission to travel back to London for further assessment after picking up a suspected knee injury on Friday minutes before the international friendly against Brazil.
“The 29-year-old was set to start for the Black Stars but just a few minutes before kick-off, was forced to withdraw after picking up a knock.”
“The 29-year old was withdrawn as a precautionary measure and replaced by RCD Mallorca midfielder Baba Idrissu.”

The player will be unavailable for Ghana’s second friendly against Nicaragua on September 27, 2022.
